Ao Yon waterfall is situated in the southern part of Phuket and is one of the less crowded waterfalls on the island.
The waterfall is accessible by car or bike and a short hike is required to reach the waterfall. Walking from the parking lot to the foothills is not very long but it is better to stock up on comfortable shoes.
The waterfall is 2 meters high and cascades into a small pool, which is ideal for swimming. Visitors can enjoy a picnic or relax on the rocks and take in the scenic beauty of the surroundings. It’s a peaceful place to escape the bustling city and enjoy some peace and tranquility in nature.
There are several tiers of the waterfall. The first tier has a small pool of water and the second tier has a larger pool. It’s a pleasant spot for swimming, but be careful as the rocks can be slippery.
Climbing to the top of the waterfall is not easy. The entire trek is about a kilometer long. Some visitors also enjoy exploring the jungle trails that lead from the waterfall, offering opportunities for wildlife sightings and scenic views. It is recommended to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water, as the trail can be slippery and the hike can be strenuous.
Entrance to the Ao Yon waterfall is free. The waterfall is open all year round, but the best time to visit is during the rainy season when the waterfall is at its fullest.
