Racha Island

Racha Island or Raya Island is a picturesque island located off the coast of Phuket. It is known for its bright white beaches, crystal clear waters, and lush tropical forests. It is a popular destination for those looking for a peaceful getaway and is also suitable for snorkeling and diving.

The Racha archipelago consists of two islands — Racha Yai and Racha Noi.

Racha Noi is uninhabited. This is just a lot of rocks overgrown with tropical greenery. Racha Noi is very popular with scuba divers. There are several dive sites for beginners and professionals. Excellent snorkeling opportunities are located close to the shore.

Racha Yai Island is a popular tourist destination for day trips or overnight stays. Visitors to the island can stay in a variety of accommodation options, ranging from budget-friendly bungalows to upscale resorts. There are several restaurants and shops on the island, as well as a dive center and water sports rental facilities.

Some activities offered on the island include snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Visitors can also enjoy sunbathing on the sandy beaches, relaxing on sunbeds, or taking a massage or spa treatment. The island is also surrounded by coral reefs and offers great opportunities for fishing.

Another attraction of the island is the viewpoint, which offers amazing views. This is the best place to watch the sunset.

There are several beaches on Racha Yai Island, including Patok Beach, and small ones — Siam, Teh, and Kon-Kae. During a couple of days’ tour from Phuket, you can walk around them all and choose the most memorable one.

Racha Island is accessible by speedboat or longtail boat from Chalong Pier in Phuket. The best time to visit Racha Island is between November and April when the weather is dry and the waters are calm.

Racha Island boasts a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, making it a great destination for those looking for a peaceful escape from the bustling tourist crowds of Phuket.
