Bang Pae Waterfall
Bang Pae Waterfall
Bang Pae Waterfall is an interesting tourist destination located in Khao Phra Thaeo National Park, in the northern part of Phuket. It is known for its scenic beauty, surrounded by lush forests and mountains. It is a great spot for swimming and trekking.
Visitors can reach the waterfall by hiking along a nature trail in the national park. The road from the parking lot to the foothills takes only five minutes. Centuries-old trees and plants of the tropics grow around the reservoir. This is a pleasant place for walking with the family. The waterfall has no cascades, but the water falls into a narrow pool where you can swim.
The entrance ticket is paid and includes a visit to the Ton Sai waterfall too. They are both connected by a hiking trail of 2-3 kilometers. Theoretically, it is possible to travel from Bang Pae waterfall to Ton Sai waterfall. But the route is difficult, so it is better to get to the second waterfall in a vehicle.
The surrounding forests are home to a diverse range of wildlife including monkeys and birds. There is a gibbon rehabilitation center near the entrance to the Bang Pae waterfall. Here they help gibbon cubs left without parents. The purpose of the institution is to help animals rehabilitate and return to their native jungle. You can’t get close to the monkeys, but visitors can buy souvenirs or make a donation in favor of the gibbon they like.
During the rainy season, the waterfall can become more intense, making for a more dramatic view. The park is located about 20 minutes from Phuket town, making it a convenient day trip destination for those staying in the city. The park is easily accessible by car, motorcycle, or local transportation such as tuk-tuks and taxis.
Overall, Bang Pae Waterfall is a must-visit destination for those who enjoy the great outdoors and natural scenery. The park is open year-round, although the rainy season from May to October can make the trails slippery and limit visibility.
