Karon Beach, Phuket’s second longest beach, has uniquely “singing” sand that sets it apart from other beaches on the island. Quiet location between the party town of Patong and the vibrant village of Kata, its appeal is evident as it is a lot less crowded. Karon beach is perfect for taking long walks, and swimming in crystal clear waters, and is also quite spectacular at sunset.

Karon beach is one of the longest beaches in Phuket, stretching for over three kilometers. The coastal strip is wide and reaches 60-70 meters at low tide, so even during New Year’s season there are places on Karon, and in the northern part, near the lake, it isn’t too crowded.

The sand at Karon beach is light yellow and contains quartz. When you walk down to the sea, it creaks under your feet like snow, for which Karon is called the “singing sand beach”. The entrance to the water is smooth at first, and after 10-15 meters it becomes deep, so the tides are completely invisible. Swimming at Karon beach will appeal to lovers of long swims.

Along the coast, you will find several oases of palm trees and Indian almonds, where you can hide in the shade. Several areas with sun loungers and umbrellas for rent are evenly distributed along the entire coast. The descent to the beach is equipped with either steps or wooden paths, which is convenient for strollers and wheelchairs, and a convenient pedestrian promenade stretches along the coast.

Karon Beach is also known for its beautiful sunsets, making it a popular spot for sunset watching and photography. You can sit right on the sand. Or arm yourself with a cocktail at some cafe and, sitting at a table right next to the road, watch the setting sun.

It is also a great spot for beach walking and jogging, especially early in the morning or late in the evening when the beach is less crowded.

There is a small lake in the northern part of the beach. You can see many runners around it in the evenings. Karon lake is a place for a market on some holidays with stalls for souvenirs, Thai food, and games. During the day or evening on Karon, it is pleasant to stroll through the shops, massage parlors, and spa centers that are scattered along the entire beach.

Water sports on the beach include jet skiing, parasailing, and banana boating. Several beach volleyball nets are stretched in the center of Karon beach, and anyone can join the game. And also international tournaments are held on the beach every year. You can take a long-tail boat tour to nearby beaches such as Ya Nui beach, Freedom beach, Paradise beach, and others.

If you are interested in snorkeling, there are good places to snorkel at the southern and northern ends of the bay, at the stone headlands. You can see a wide variety of fish, moray eels, and small coral fishes. Masks and snorkels are sold in beach shops along Karon Road.

During the high season from November to April, the sea on Karon beach is usually calm. Waves appear from May to October. During this time, surfers from all over the world flock here.

Karon beach offers a wide range of accommodation options, from budget-friendly guesthouses to luxury resorts. The beach is also home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and bars, making it a hot spot for nightlife.

Karon beach is a great destination for those looking for a tropical beach vacation with plenty of activities and entertainment options. With its picturesque beach, clear waters, and vibrant nightlife, it is a great spot for both relaxation and adventure.
