It has a beach town feel that differs from other parts of the island. A nice spot for a swim with clear blue waters during the high season, it also features tasty restaurants. It is also a popular spot for activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and some water sports.
Kamala Beach is considered a quieter and more peaceful alternative to the crowded beaches of Phuket, making it a popular spot for families and couples. The beach is approximately 3 km long and lined with palm trees, providing plenty of shade for visitors.
The southern part of Kamala beach is not suitable for swimming. It becomes very shallow at low tide, and the bottom with stones is exposed. The fishermen moor their long-tailed boats.
Entry into the sea in Kamala’s central part is gentle and stone-free, making it a comfortable place for children to swim. The central part is surrounded by casuarinas and palm trees, which create natural shade. The main beach infrastructure includes sunbeds, umbrellas, and some water sports. Northern Kamala beach is quieter. You can sit on a mat in the shade of trees. Swimming is as comfortable as in the center, and the tides are barely noticeable.
The sea at Kamala beach is calm between November and April. The southwest wind brings waves into the sea during the low season, from May to October. The waves on Kamala beach are much smaller than on deeper beaches such as Karon or Mai Khao.
Kamala Beach also offers some water sports. For those interested in history, there is also a nearby Buddhist temple, Wat Kamala, which is worth visiting. There are no good snorkeling spots in Kamala; it is better to go to nearby islands or beaches.
Kamala beach in Phuket offers many options for foodies, with a wide range of local and international restaurants, bars, and cafes. Kamala beach is also a pleasant place for families with a wide selection of family-friendly restaurants and cafes. Many hotels and resorts in the area also have kids’ clubs and other facilities for children. Kamala beach is also home to several luxury resorts and more budget-friendly accommodation options.
Nightlife in Kamala is quite calm. Several bars and a few restaurants offer live music. There are just a few shopping spots. However, everything you need is here.
It’s also worth noting that Kamala beach is a bit quieter and more relaxed than some of Phuket’s more famous beaches like Patong, making it a better choice for travelers looking for a more laid-back vacation experience. Kamala bay is ideal for vacations at the beach, long swims, and watching the sun go down while sitting on the sand or in one of the restaurants nearby. There are also a few smaller beaches nearby like Surin and Laem Singh, which are worth a visit. Also, you can explore nearby areas like Phang Nga Bay and James Bond Island from Kamala beach.
